Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Speech
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or swachh Bharat mission or clean India mission is one of the most ambitious social project launched by Indian PM Sri Narendra Modi. It is a nation-wide campaign with the aim to make India dirt free, clean street and build toilets. This project is launched by PM Narendra Modi on 2nd October 2014, in a function at Rajgaht, Delhi. The main of this program to make India ODF Free till 2019.
It is well-known fact that Mahatma Gandhi is very found of cleanness, by keeping this in my PM Narendra Modi selected Gandhi Jayanti (2nd October) to launch Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the same day is also celebrated as Swachhata Diwas or clean day in Indian.
The objectives of Swachh Bharat include eliminating open defecation through the construction of household-owned and community-owned toilets and establishing an accountable mechanism of monitoring toilet use. Run by the Government of India, the mission aims to achieve an Open-Defecation Free (ODF) India by 2 October 2019, the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, by constructing 90 million toilets in rural India at a projected cost of ₹1.96 lakh crore (US$30 billion). The mission will also contribute to India reaching Sustainable Development Goal Number 6 (SDG 6).
The success of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
Swachh Bharat mission is one of the largest social schemes in the world, after its launch in 2014, it gets support from celebrities, politicians and all government as well as private organizations. Due to the support of everyone many Indian cities have become ODF FREE and cores of toilets build across the country.
Due to this clean India mission, national sanitation coverage increased from 38.7% on 2nd October 2014 to 90% till August 2018. Eleven states, 314 districts, and 3.25 lakh villages were declared Open Defecation Free (ODF) by 15 February 2018.
To support this program Ministry of urban development government of India launched cleanest city ranking to reward those cities which are working hard to keep their city clean. In the latest ranking, Indore and Bhopal are top two cleanest cities of India.
